Disaster Relief Housing

Home Without a Place: A concept project for disaster relief housing

This project explores the advantages of earth design – considering its availability, thermal and acoustic properties and ability to strengthen over time. The design consists of a thin, hollow framework into which dry, upgraded soil is poured. Virtually any material, provided that it is weatherproof and rigid, can be used for the framework, allowing materials to be chosen according to availability, geography and capital. The project is designed for quick construction and immediate finishing. Units are modular and can be easily altered and connected.
